What is the “Marriage” Course?

A Course that offers couples practical tools to make their marriage stronger and more open to all of life.

During the seven sessions couples are invited to dialogue about the important things that are often missed in the busyness of daily life.

The intimacy of the couple is respected.  There is no group sharing nor will you be asked to share your private discussion with anyone.

What happens?

Each evening a talk is given on a particular theme which seeks to nourish the couple's dialogue with each other. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The Course is based on Christian principles, but is open to all, Christian or not.

The Course is free, but a voluntary contribution will be accepted.

Since 1990 the Chemin Neuf Community has offerd  sessions in Canada (retreats, Christian formation, prayer groups, etc.)

In 1997 some members of the community living in the parish of Ste Rose de Lima (diocese of Montreal) formed a small “common life fraternity”.  In September 2004 the parish was entrusted to the community by Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte.  Today a common life fraternity and a neighbourhood fraternity serve the parish. Val de Paix, a centre for  welcome and spiritual renewal operated by the community, was established north of Montreal in the town of Rawdon.

The Chemin Neuf Community is a Catholic community with an ecumenical vocation.  It was born from a prayer group in 1973 in Lyon, France and today has more than 1500 members in 25 countries.  Couples, families, singles and celibates, men and women, have chosen the adventure of community life to follow Christ poor and humble, in order to serve the church, the Gospel and the world.

In addition, the Chemin Neuf  “Communion,” an apostolic body of more than 6000 people, has grown up around the community.

The Chemin Neuf Community is an apostolic community, influenced by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the Charismatic Renewal.

Most members work outside the community.  Others serve full time in ministries entrusted to the community by the Church.  The community’s daily needs are supported by the income of members, while its missions depend on the Lord - on providence and donations.  Members live in either “neighbourhood” fraternities (in their own homes) or “common life” fraternities (members live under one roof).
